Dear Diary:

I've been a Gingiteer for a long time, so I was absolutely delighted to hear that Diaryland's own Gingi has been nominated for a Diarist Award for Best Rant.

For those of you who don't follow this, the Diarist Awards are given by people who keep on-line journals to other diaries they feel have special merit.

If you keep an on-line journal you can nominate someone; it also gives you the right to vote.

In the past I've kept quiet about other Diaryland journals that have been nominated because Diarist.net frowns on nominated Diarists soliciting votes for their diary. I didn't want there to be any question about how somebody won.

But Gingi doesn't know I'm writing this and I feel I should be able to congratulate her even if we do share the same virtual home.

Should you vote for Gingi (or the other Diarylanders nominated this quarter) because of the fact they're from Diaryland?

Oh man, no. These awards are about excellence, not URL's.

But what you should do is go explore the nominees, read them, and if you have the time, vote.

I promise you, all of them give good read . And I think we can all agree that it never hurts to give someone a well deserved pat on the back.

This template is a riff on a design by the truly talented Quinn. Because I'm a html 'tard, I got alot of pity coding to modify it from Ms. Kittay, a woman who can make html roll over, beg, and bring her her slippers. The logo goodness comes from the God of Graphics, the Fuhrer of Fonts, the one, the only El Presidente. I smooch you all. The background image is part of a painting called Higher Calling by Carter Goodrich which graced the cover of the Aug. 3, 1998 issue of The New Yorker Magazine.

Kids, don't try viewing this at home without Netscape 6 or IE 4.5+, a screen resolution of 800 X 600 and the font Mead Bold firmly ensconced on your hard drive.
