Dear Diary:

While I have to admit that the whole idea of people feeling the need to kiss my hand AND having the ability to smite my enemies big time really appeals, I have decided that being an organized crime boss is probably not the career path for me.

They've been playing The Godfather movies on the CBC Monday nights.

You're looking at one of the 23 people on this planet who have not seen this saga. I missed these movies when they first came out because I was in my snotty "Film Should Be Art" stage.

Yep, back in the '70's, I would go see anything by, say, Lina Wertmuller but I wouldn't be caught dead going to something as plebian as an American blockbuster, no matter how good it might be.

Oh be quiet.

I'm sure There Are Things In Your Past that are a tad embarrassing, too, eh. Oh yeah, don't think I'm not aware of your crush on the entire cast of "The Facts of Life" or that you felt Transformers were the coolest thing on the planet.

Don't Make Me Tell Your Friends.

Alrightee, I think we understand each other now.

Godfather Part 1 was what I expected, mass quantities of murder kind of strung together with a thin narrative. Part II really surprised me because it was more a meditation about how generations of violence can break the humanity of even a man as self-aware and ethical as Michael was.

With ads it ran four hours. It's rare for me not to bail out of something that long, but to my surprise I was sad to see it end. Now I can hardly wait for Part III next Monday.

No plot spoilers, 'kay?

This template is a riff on a design by the truly talented Quinn. Because I'm a html 'tard, I got alot of pity coding to modify it from Ms. Kittay, a woman who can make html roll over, beg, and bring her her slippers. The logo goodness comes from the God of Graphics, the Fuhrer of Fonts, the one, the only El Presidente. I smooch you all.
