Dear Diary:

This is the biggest night of Mortimer's life. At 6 p.m. today, 24 hours or so after SETI came back on-line, it became clear that Team Newkirk (yay, yay) had crushed their valiant opponents at Team Betronic Design (boo, hiss) by 540 units.

It was a hard won victory against great opponents and I would like to thank the incredibly cute and deeply feared Red Moose for playing along.

So Mortimer and Dutchie will be reunited on this side of the Atlantic. Frankly, no one is more surprised by this turn of events than I, eh.

I would like to take a moment to send big moosie smooches to both the long term and new members of Team Newkirk. Go Team!

It will take time for Dutchie to get packed and say good-bye to her friends over in the Netherlands. To help Mortimer bear the wait, we've arranged for him to visit one member of Team Newkirk for a week as a way of saying thank you to everyone who threw the might of their machines into our Dutch crushing efforts.

Of all the eligible members of Team Newkirk, fifty-seven chose to be part of the drawing to win a week with Mortimer, The Moose of Their Dreams.

Paul held the tuque, Jess drew the name. These names, all printed on identically sized bits of paper, were dumped into a tuque, stirred vigorously, and my daughter Jess did the honours.

And the fickle finger of fate pointed to:

Psychontronic Gizmonator wins a week with Mortimer.

PSYCHOTRONIC GIZMONATOR.

I hope that once he stops hysterically weeping from joy The Gizmonator will contact me by e-mail and I'll arrange to mail Mortimer to him in the next few days.

Take good care of my moosie, 'kay?

--Marn

This template is a riff on a design by the truly talented Quinn. Because I'm a html 'tard, I got alot of pity coding to modify it from Ms. Kittay, a woman who can make html roll over, beg, and bring her her slippers. The logo goodness comes from the God of Graphics, the Fuhrer of Fonts, the one, the only El Presidente. I smooch you all. The background image is part of a painting called Higher Calling by Carter Goodrich which graced the cover of the Aug. 3, 1998 issue of The New Yorker Magazine.

Kids, don't try viewing this at home without Netscape 6 or IE 4.5+, a screen resolution of 800 X 600 and the font Mead Bold firmly ensconced on your hard drive.
