Dear Diary:

I have a dream.

Let me be the journalling Susan Lucci.

For those of you who are not fans of North American day time tee vee, Susan Lucci is the star of an American soap opera called All My Children. She plays supervixen Erica Kane and has two claims to fame:

1) an urban legend that she is the daughter of comedienne Phyllis Diller and

2) that she was nominated 18 times in a row for a daytime Emmy And Did Not Win.

Okay, I admit that the word "supervixen" might not be the first one to come to the minds of my three loyal readers when they think of me, but c'mon people, Work With Me Here--You Can Do It With Some Effort.

The urban legend part is a piece o' cake. Anyone who has ever seen me would instantly make the Phyllis Diller connection. So, from now on, I want you to consider me Phyllis Diller's eccentric Canadian internet daughter, eh.

Now, the losing streak.

I began my losing streak a few months ago, being nominated for Best Account of a Public or News Event in the Diarist.net awards and, well, losing.

I had to start somewhere.

So I've been nominated again in the Diarist.net awards, one for best comedic entry and one for best journal.

No one was more surprised to see those nominations than I was, especially the best journal one. I mean, let's face it, this is a journal where a big day is one in which dogs try to sniff my groinal region. Clearly, Mistakes Have Been Made. However, I'm completely willing to capitalize on said mistakes since it gives me not one but TWO new, fresh categories to lose!

So do me a favour here. Go and enjoy what other diarists feel are some of the best examples of on-line journalling. Folks, there's some very good writing there.

Then go vote for anyone but me.

Seriously, I mean it.

Let me be your Susan Lucci.

Supervixen.

Phyllis Diller's eccentric Canadian internet daughter, eh.

Maybe a nominee, but NEVER a winner.

C'mon, it'll be fun.

This template is a riff on a design by the truly talented Quinn. Because I'm a html 'tard, I got alot of pity coding to modify it from Ms. Kittay, a woman who can make html roll over, beg, and bring her her slippers. The logo goodness comes from the God of Graphics, the Fuhrer of Fonts, the one, the only El Presidente. I smooch you all. Kids, don't try viewing this at home without Netscape 6 or IE 4.5+, a screen resolution of 800 X 600 and the font Mead Bold firmly ensconced on your hard drive.
